The Creative Center

Initiated by a not-for-profit organization, the original Creative Center was first introduced to the Isle-Wahkon community in June of 2002. Hard work and diligence has made the Creative Center a comfortable place for people of all ages to learn about art, how to create art, and how to interact with people of like minds in the community.

Adjacent to Someday Isle, The Creative Center has community outreach programs for seniors, adults and children, teaches art classes to home-schooled children and Isle Schools students enrolled in the Isle Recreation and Education Center (IREC) after-school programs, and has provided classes for the Mille Lacs Academy, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. The neighboring schools of Onamia and Nay-Ah-Shing are invited to take advantage of the classes also.

The Creative Center provides artists access to materials, a place to work and a space to sell their creations. In return, participating artists donate their time, give classes and become mentors in their area of expertise. This gives the artists high visibility in the community and raises the community's awareness of the arts, which benefits both the artist and the community.

A wide variety of classes, beginning to advanced, are offered. A nominal fee is charged. The classes are listed on the
Upcoming Classes and Events page of this site. Contact Someday Isle at (320) 676-1962 or somedayisle@frontiernet.net for further information on classes, or if you are interested in a particular art medium not listed.

Financial support is gained through grants, events and fundraisers held throughout the year.
